There are many reasons why we have pets, but in general, we bring them into our families because they make our lives better. Some of them are cute and cuddly, while others are arrogant and aloof. They all occupy a portion of our hearts, and we love them in return.
On this page, we have listed some of the special pets of our lives, as well as some of the things that take place at Pownal Veterinary Hospital.
Buggy came to us from the Animal Refuge League of Portland. Some teenagers had coaxed him into their car, and then tossed him out while going down the road. An associate was able to pin his shattered shoulder back together, and we brought him home to convalesce. Within a matter of hours, we fell in love with Bug .
He was one of the most loving beings we have ever known. Every person’s lap had his name, and Bug would climb every pant leg, blouse and shirt to be able to look you in the eye and plead for some affection.
Buggy died unexpectedly in July of 2010. We miss him so . . . . . .
One of the real joys in practicing veterinary medicine is that we get to know the sweetest creatures to grace our world. A special treat for us are puppy and kitten exams. Life is great when your work day includes these warm, soft animals that want nothing more than to lick, cuddle and play!
The 1st Grade from Pownal Elementary School stopped by to visit with us. That was a fun day!
Carmen and Karen at the 2011 Fryeburg Fair, where Fisher Farms was showing some of their beautiful milking shorthorns. Yay, Carmen!
Ouch! He's feeling much better after coming to see us!!
And here's one of the great ball players on the 2012 Pownal Veterinary Little League Team. How to go, guys!
